About me

When I was about 12 years old (I’m from 1982) I picked up the guitar and have been playing ever since. Though I’m mainly self-taught I did take some lessons the first two years, and later on I also took some classes in music theory. Between 2007 and 2009 I attended several courses at Robert Fripp’s Guitar Craft and participated on a few related projects. As for formal education, I left school (and home) at age 17 in an act of teenage rebellion, to pursue a career in music. Practicing day and night I managed to overcome plenty if shitty jobs and empty refrigerators doing lots of gigs here and abroad in bands, solo and in various ensembles, working with some excellent musicians over the years. In 2008 I started Gitaarstudio Breda where I teach students of various levels.

November 2013 saw the release of my first solo-album “Between time and Space”, which is an instrumental record, probably best described as a crossover between minimal music and progressive rock. I’m intrigued with odd time signatures and polyrhythm, which is very audible on this album. At the moment I’m in the process of writing new material which we’ll be performing and recording later this year.

Besides working as a musician I’m also a professional seller of vintage and high-end guitars. All instruments in my inventory are meticulously selected on originality and playability and I go through great lenghts to describe them as accurately as possible and provide some historical background along the way. I love sharing this knowledge and therefor gratefully enjoy the confidence of many players and collectors in finding them the right guitar. Besides specializing in vintage guitars I offer pre-owned high-end instruments and have a few selected dealerships of brands and builders that comply with the level of excellence I’m aiming for.

This trinity of teaching, performing and working as a professional seller makes for the best job in the world, and it’s a joy to meet people who share the same passion for music and fine instruments every day!
